How Mindfulness Can Maximize an Adjuster’s Next Catastrophe Deployment
“Not everyone has the opportunity to earn 5- to 6-figures in a single month. When the opportunity presents itself to you, it’s better to know what environment promotes your flow-state than not.” —You might have heard of the term “mindfulness.”
Maybe you already practice it or think it’s a word used by tree-hugging hippies. Either way, mindfulness is a cognitive tool that can make it easier for you to eliminate distractions that are slowing your productivity. Mindfulness helps to put you in a state of heightened consciousness. But what is mindfulness, and how the hell do we get there?

Well, most people know the feeling of being “in the zone.” If you ever felt this way, it’s because you were momentarily in a state of heightened consciousness or raised awareness. Think about what you were doing the last time you were in the zone. Whatever you were doing, your mind was focused entirely on that activity, and nothing could distract you.
Whether you knew it or not, at that moment, you had complete control of your mind. Mindfulness is having full control of your brain. If you practice mindfulness regularly, you can slide into this hyper-focused state faster, easier, and for longer.
How to Be More Productive?
Develop habits that help you find your flow and get in the zone. That means getting rid of anything that might distract you from working on what needs to be done. Go out of your way to put yourself in distraction-free mode or in an area you find yourself more likely to complete tasks at a faster rate.
I learned I’m more productive working inside a coffee shop than I am in my own home office. This led me to believe I am less distracted by noise than I am the need to perform chores, like cleaning and organizing. I also found I am significantly less productive inside hotel rooms compared to Airbnbs.

My most profitable deployment requires me to be in complete control of my brain, otherwise known as mindfulness. To achieve this, I need total control of my environment. I control my environment by limiting what has access to it while also placing myself in an area where I historically have performed the best. So, I choose Airbnbs over Hiltons as much as possible but spend most of my time inside coffee shops. All regardless of price.
Following rules like this won’t ensure your flow-state. However, they certainly make it much more attainable. I do this because I know once I’m in that flow state, I can start sailing past other adjusters in terms of productivity. This increases my chances of receiving more assignments, a longer deployment, and ultimately making more money.
