It Takes Less Time to Do It Right, Than To Do It Twice
Welcome back to our weekly blog discussing tips and tricks for the independent adjuster! We’re glad to have you along for the ride. Stick with us over the coming weeks for even more valuable tips for your adjusting career — what to do as an adjuster, and oftentimes even more importantly, what to avoid.
You know what the big difference is between the independent adjusters that struggle to find work and those that don’t? Quality. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been an independent adjuster. Those that maintain the quality of their work at the highest level will always build better relationships.
New adjusters are often overly confident in their work, despite not knowing what the industry standard is. Unfortunately, most independent adjusters, in general, are terrible. It’s bad for the insurance industry and even worst for our own little section. Any insurance company adjuster will tell you — dealing with independent adjusters isn’t always a great time. Many are outright awful.
But that’s not all bad news; there’s a silver lining. We can take advantage of the low standard by shining brighter than our competition. Never become too busy to double-check your work. You aren’t impervious to error, regardless of how long you’ve been doing this. Prepare your “products” (i.e, your reports) as if they were being prepared by a high-earning professional, because they are.
